Notice of Press Conference – October 31, 2017
(Woodland, CA) – October 31, 2017 – The Yolo County District Attorney will hold a press conference today at 4 pm to announce that this morning in court 31-year-old Woodland resident Frank T. Rees pled no contest to three charges in connection with the death of his infant son, Justice Rees. Rees pled no contest to Felony Abusing or Endangering the Health of a Child, Involuntary Manslaughter, and Administering a Controlled Substance (to Samantha Green). As part of the plea agreement, Rees agreed to serve six years on State Prison. Had Rees taken the case to trial and been convicted of all charges, the maximum sentence he could have received is nine years. Baby Justice was 19 days old when he died from environmental exposure due to neglect on February 23, 2015.
District Attorney Jeff Reisig, trial prosecutors, and members of the Sheriff’s Office will discuss the case and details of the plea agreement. A Yolo County jury convicted Justice’s mother, Samantha Green, of murder in September of 2016 for her principal role in the baby’s death.
The briefing will take place at 4 pm on October 31, 2017, at the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office located at 301 Second Street in Woodland, California.
