(Woodland, CA) – December 21, 2022 – Yesterday, Carmichael resident David Nelson, 35, was arraigned in Yolo County Superior Court on charges of arson and conspiracy to commit theft and arson.

Nelson was arrested by the Woodland Police Department on December 16, 2022, on a warrant for suspicion of arson and theft from an incident occurring on October 27, 2022. On that day, a fire was started in the Bel Air Grocery Store in Woodland. The Yolo County District Attorney’s Office filed a criminal complaint on December 20, 2022, alleging arson and conspiracy. The complaint also alleged that Nelson has two prior strike convictions for robbery. Two other suspects remain at large.

Nelson entered not guilty pleas and is scheduled for a Preliminary Hearing on January 5, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. in Department 8 of the Yolo County Superior Court. Nelson remains in custody on $100k bail. Nelson’s co-conspirator, Sean Larsen, was arrested on November 16, 2022, and charged with arson and conspiracy to commit theft and arson. A preliminary hearing was conducted on December 9, 2022, and he was held to answer on both charges. He is scheduled for arraignment on the information on December 23, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. in Department 8 of the Yolo County Superior Court.
