Cold Case Unit

The Yolo County District Attorney’s Office remains committed to all crime victims, especially those who are still waiting for justice, long after the crimes are committed.

In June 2019, the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office helped organize the Yolo County Cold Case Task Force, a cooperative agreement among local law enforcement agencies in Yolo County.

Our specially trained Cold Case Team works tirelessly with Local, State and Federal law enforcement using innovative techniques, like genetic genealogy, to solve cases where the trail has gone cold.  We use all available resources to solve the most serious crimes in which justice has yet to be served.

District Attorney Investigator Stephen Jerguson has over sixteen years in law enforcement and is assigned full-time to this unit.  He has worked on hundreds of homicides and sexual assault investigations both inside and outside of Yolo County.  Stephen is a Task Force Officer with the Sacramento FBI’s Violent Crime Task Force focusing on using Investigative Genetic Genealogy to solve homicides and sexual assaults.  Stephen can be reached at (530) 666-8180.
