Citizens Can Protect Their Identity by Shredding Confidential Documents

Press Release

(Woodland, CA) – April 7, 2023 On Friday, May 5, 2023, the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office and Umpqua Bank will be co-hosting another free shred event for Yolo County residents and Umpqua Bank customers. This is an effort by Umpqua Bank to give back to the community and to support the efforts the District Attorney is making to protect individuals and businesses from identity theft. “Shredding paperwork containing personal information, such as social security numbers, is one of the first steps in reducing the chance of identity theft happening to you,” said District Attorney Jeff Reisig.

Umpqua Bank is mindful of its customers’ banking routines, which adds an additional layer of protection so that if something out of the ordinary arises, the bank can stop it before the customers’ identities are compromised.

Umpqua Bank and the District Attorney encourage people to take advantage of this free opportunity that will help prevent identity theft. The event will take place at Umpqua Bank located at 203 Main Street in Woodland on Friday, May 5, 2023, between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. (or until the truck is full). There is no limit to the number of boxes of documents that need to be shredded in a safe and secure manner. Please remember: No stiff metal, plastic bags, CDs or DVDs, or other items that will jam the shredder. For more information about this event, please contact Umpqua Bank at (530) 406-2521.
