(Woodland, CA) – June 28, 2018 – Yolo County District Attorney Jeff Reisig announced that on June 28, 2018, Yolo County Superior Court Judge Daniel Maguire sentenced 36- year-old Ted Tyler, of West Sacramento, to 72 years in state prison for the molestation of his 13 year old step-daughter.

On January 10, 2018, a Yolo County jury found Tyler guilty of oral copulation with a child under the age of 14, four counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14, and contacting a minor for sex. Mr. Tyler had previously been convicted of committing Assault with Intent to Commit Rape.

On February 22, 2017, West Sacramento Police officers were dispatched to the family home in West Sacramento. The victim’s mother had become suspicious that something inappropriate was happening between her husband and the 13-year-old victim. The victim was initially hesitant to provide details of the abuse. She eventually disclosed that the defendant had molested her several occasions.

The trial began on January 2, 2018, and lasted for six days. The jury was returned guilty verdicts on all counts after eight hours of deliberation.
