Press Release

(Woodland, CA) – April 18, 2016 – District Attorney Jeff Reisig announced that on April 15, 2016, Judge Paul Richardson sentenced 32-year-old Manuel Alejandro Guzman of Winters, to 10 years in state prison for molesting an 11-year-old girl. On June 29, 2015, a Yolo County jury convicted Guzman of two counts of child molestation. Guzman, who was dating the girl’s mother and living in the same house, was convicted of touching the young girl’s breasts and trying to have sexual intercourse with her. The molestation came to light when the girl’s mother found emails between Guzman and the girl describing some of the things he was doing to her. The girl’s mother came to the sentencing hearing and told Judge Richardson that she and her family still feel the pain caused by Guzman’s actions. Judge Richardson cited the girl’s young age and Guzman’s manipulation of the family in sentencing Guzman to the maximum sentence allowed of 10 years in state prison.
