Press Release

(Woodland, CA) – April 18, 2017- District Attorney Jeff Reisig announced today that on April 17, 2017, a Yolo County jury found 29-year-old Sacramento man Adam Nersesyan guilty of robbery and also found that Nersesyan used a knife during the robbery.

On April 4, 2016, around 12:30 in the afternoon, Nersesyan entered a Target located in Davis, selected various fragrances totaling over $780 and concealed them inside a stolen ice cooler. As Nersesyan exited the store, he threatened the loss prevention officer and ran off and entered a waiting getaway car. A Good Samaritan noticed this odd behavior and took photos of the car as it sped out of the parking lot. Based on the photos, a detective from the Davis Police Department tracked the car to a residence out of county. The driver, upon being contacted, initially denied being present but later admitted to driving Nersesyan to the Target. Nersesyan attempted to place blame on his cousin but, once it was revealed that the cousin had a distinctive tattoo on his face which was not visible on the surveillance footage, the jury concluded that Nersesyan committed the robbery.

The week long jury trial ended on Friday, April 14, 2017, and the jury reached its verdict the following Monday. District Attorney Jeff Reisig credited the hard work of the Davis Police Department for their investigation of this case. “There’s no substitute for solid and detailed police investigations,” said Reisig. “The jury had the evidence they needed to convict.”

The Honorable David Rosenberg, who presided over the trial, will sentence Nersesyan on May 26, 2017. Nersesyan is facing up to six years in prison.
