(Woodland, CA) – April 22, 2024 – On April 19, 2024, 33-year-old Samuel Hanawalt, a resident of Davis, was arrested after a collision that occurred on March 13, 2024, on Interstate 80 in Davis.

The Yolo County District Attorney has filed several felony charges including:

• Two counts of Attempted Murder, with enhancements for Willful, Deliberate and Premeditated Attempted Murder; Attempted Murder in the First Degree of a Peace Officer; and Infliction of Great Bodily Injury;
• Two counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon other than a Firearm Upon a Peace Officer, with an enhancement for Infliction of Great Bodily Injury;
• One count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon;
• Two counts of Driving on the Wrong Side of a Divided Highway Resulting in Injury or Death, with an enhancement for Infliction of Great Bodily Injury;
• Case enhancements also allege that the crime involved great violence, great bodily harm, threat of great bodily harm, or other acts disclosing a high degree of cruelty, viciousness, or callousness; he was armed with     or used a weapon at the time of the commission of the crime; the victim was particularly vulnerable; and that he engaged in violent conduct which indicated a serious danger to society.

Hanawalt will be arraigned on the charges tomorrow at 1:30 pm, in Dept. 1 of the Yolo County Superior Court.
