Press Release

(Woodland, CA) – September 5, 2024 – Yesterday, in Dept. 7 of the Yolo County Superior Court, Lizbet Quintero, 31-year-old resident of West Sacramento, plead no contest to the charges against her after a DUI collision claimed the life of her passenger, Dakotta Love, 26, from the city of Sacramento. Quintero plead no contest to one count of Gross Vehicular Manslaughter While Intoxicated; one count of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and Drugs Causing Injury; one count of Driving at 0.08 or Above Causing Injury; and Enhancements for Infliction of Great Bodily Injury and Excessive Blood Alcohol.

In the early morning hours of November 20, 2023, Quintero was driving westbound on US Highway 50 at Harbor Boulevard. Due to her level of intoxication, she drove off the road and into a construction zone. As a result of the accident, her front seat passenger sustained fatal injuries. Her blood alcohol content was .18, more than double the legal limit.

At yesterday’s hearing victim impact statements from many family members and friends were read regarding their loss, after which Quintero was sentenced to four years prison by the Honorable Tom M. Dyer. At the conclusion of the hearing, she was remanded into custody. District Attorney Jeff Reisig said “This tragic case serves as a poignant reminder of the dangers of driving while intoxicated. Our hearts go out to the family members of the victim.”
